“The strength of the nation lies in our commitment to uphold the Federal Constitution. The constitution (and by extension, the law) is not static but a living instrument – it must serve both tradition and progress, stability and reform. In that spirit, I hope that the essays compiled in this book will encourage a deeper understanding of our fundamental rights.”
From the Foreword by DYMM Yang Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir

“I am honoured to introduce this collection of essays that embodies both the future of our legal profession and the enduring strength of public law scholarship. The twenty one essays assembled here capture the intellectual world of emerging legal minds during their pupillage and provide profound theoretical knowledge with palpable awareness of the principles forged over time into the courtroom, the corridors of power, and the fabric of our civic life. I trust this volume will inspire confidence in our emerging legal minds to be vigilant stewards of constitutional democracy, as guardians who interpret our fundamental laws not literally alone, but purposively and empathetically, attuned to the soul of our nation.”
— From the Foreword by The Chief Justice “Dato’ Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh”

“Perspectives on Public Law: Essays on Fundamental Rights” offers a diverse and insightful exploration of fundamental rights within the complex and dynamic realm of public law….The collection of essays provides unique analyses of various topics, including women’s and children’s rights, freedom of expression, and property rights…. This publication represents a significant contribution to the ongoing discourse on these critical issues…. I hope this publication stimulates critical reflection and fosters a deeper understanding of public law’s essential role in upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the fundamental rights of all citizens.”

Description

The intersection of law and society is one of the most profound and dynamic areas of study, and within it, public law stands as a pillar that governs the relationship between individuals and the state.

Perspectives on Public Law: Essays on Fundamental Rights” seeks to explore this crucial domain by examining the evolving landscape of human rights, the role of the state in protecting these rights and the broader implications for governance and justice.
